CBS News reported that March 2020 was the first March without a school shooting in the United States since 2002. While there were seven shootings on school campuses -four resulted in as unintended discharges, one took place between adults on a high school football field over the weekend and two occurred on college campuses but didn’t involve any students.
In 2018, the New England Journal of Medicine published a report that indicated that firearms are the second-leading cause of death among young people in the U.S. behind motor vehicle deaths.
